FAQ

  • What does CFGC stand for?
CFGC is the accronym for Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. We are a non-profit organization at the state level. We are part of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) and we have many member clubs in the state of Colorado.
  • How much does it cost to be a member of CFGC?
Most people belong to a local member club which sets their own dues amount ranging from $10 - $35 per year. The state level organiation (CFGC) membership dues are just $9 per year, per member and that typically comes out of your local club dues. So if you join a club and their membership dues are set at $25/year, then $9 of that $25 goes to CFGC to make you not only a CFGC member, but also a member of the national level organization, National Garden Clubs (NGC)! And we are working on setting up "virtual" clubs and new local "hybrid" clubs so that you'll have even more clubs to choose from even if you live in an area that doesn't have a traditonal meet in person garden club or if your schedule doesn't allow you to go to in-person meetings. We'll have more information on this coming out soon.
  • Why should a garden club join CFGC?
There are many reasons to join Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs (CFGC). We have a document that is 10 pages long that lists many of the reasons but the short answer is that it enables local garden clubs to be part of a non-profit organization with all of the benefits of being a 501(c)3 non-profit organization without having to set that up yourself. It also automatically gives your members membership to the Rocky Mountain Region of Garden Clubs (RMR) and the National Garden Clubs (NGC). At all three of these levels, local member clubs have opportunities to apply for thousands of dollars' worth of awards and grants each year to help fund community projects and other club activities as well as access to many educational schools, certifications, symposiums, and state and national level events and projects. You'll also be able to meet other people with similar interests and join with other clubs to attend events and work on worth-while projects. There are so many benefits we can't list them all here but be sure to check out our document on the benefits of belonging to CFGC, RMR and NGC. • Can I join CFGC without belonging to a local Garden Club?
Yes! You can be an "at large" or "Virtual" member of CFGC. We understand that sometimes there might not be a local CFGC Garden Club near your location. By joining CFGC as a member that is not affiliated with a specific club, you can still participate in national, state, and regional level events and programs and you get all the benefits of being a CFGC Member. This is also available for people who belong to a local HOA garden club that is not allowed by the HOA to be a member club of CFGC. This gives their members the option to belong to both their local HOA Garden Club and get the benefits of belonging to a State and National level organization without breaking any HOA rules that might guide your local club. You can also join one of our new Virtual Garden Clubs as an alternative to being an "ad hoc" or "Virtual Member" so that you have more opportunities to collaborate with other gardeners in our state! We are working to set these up now and are planning to create a couple to represent different areas of our state so that you can meet virtually with other gardeners in a similiar area so that you can discuss things that are relevant to the area of the state that you live in as we reconize that people living on the eastern plains will have very different growing conditions than those living in the moutains at higher elevations.
