This Flower Show School is open to all who desire to enrich their knowledge of horticulture, design and flower show procedure.
HORTICULTURE: In this second course, students will learn introductory horticulture, which includes anatomical features of plants and applicable environmental factors. Information is also presented on exhibiting procedures, judging procedures, etiquette, ethics, point scoring, and top NGC awards.
Plants to be studied: CONTAINER GROWN PLANTS, foliage, trailing vines; PERENNIALS: woody, conifers
DESIGN: This second course will review elements and principles with emphasis on line, color, space, balance and rhythm; discuss color qualities and the Pigment system, American creative design, minor and moderate abstraction, etiquette, ethics, top NGC awards, and point scoring.
Designs: American creative designs with minor and moderate abstraction.
FLOWER SHOW PROCEDURE: Course II reviews: the six basic requirements of all categories of Standard Flower Shows; the duties of Flower Show Chairman and Committees; judging procedures; and purposes of the NGC Standard System of Awarding.
